AEW Bolsters Leadership with New Chief Operating Officer, Kosha Irby

In a strategic move, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has appointed a seasoned professional, Kosha Irby, as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Kosha Irby Extensive Background in Sports and Entertainment

Kosha Irby brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as the Regional Director of Live Events for WWE from 2011 to 2018. His tenure at WWE showcased his expertise in managing live events, a skill set that aligns seamlessly with the dynamic world of professional wrestling.

AEW Confirms the Appointment

Fightful initially broke the news of Irby’s hiring, and the confirmation of his role as COO came from wrestling insider Dave Meltzer. This move indicates AEW’s commitment to strengthening its leadership team with individuals who possess a deep understanding of the wrestling industry.

Irby’s Recent Ventures

Before joining AEW, Irby served as the Chief Marketing Officer for the Clemson University Athletic Department starting in February 2023. Post his WWE stint, he took on the role of President of the Memphis Express AAF football team from June 2018 to April 2019. Irby also contributed his expertise as the Chief Marketing Officer for Professional Bull Riders LLC from 2019 to 2023.

AEW’s Response to Recent Staff Changes

Irby’s hiring follows AEW’s recent departures of three key personnel. The exit of former Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer Rafael Morffi, Chief Marketing & Merchandising Officer Dana Massie at the close of 2023, and the departure of QT Marshall created gaps in the leadership team. Irby’s arrival is expected to bring stability and contribute to the ongoing success of AEW.

AEW continues to make strategic moves to strengthen its position in the highly competitive world of professional wrestling, and the appointment of Kosha Irby as COO signals a positive step towards achieving these goals.
