AJ Styles’ Much-Awaited WWE SmackDown Comeback: Latest Update

The WWE universe is buzzing with anticipation as AJ Styles is set to make his long-awaited return to SmackDown this Friday night.

AJ Styles’ Planned TV Comeback

In a recent update on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shared insights into AJ Styles’ return, confirming that WWE has slated his comeback for this Friday’s SmackDown. While Styles was initially scheduled to return four weeks ago, unforeseen circumstances led to a delay. However, the latest plan indicates that Styles will finally grace the SmackDown stage this week.

Meltzer commented, “By the way, AJ Styles is going to be back on Friday. Or he’s supposed to be back on Friday. You know, he was supposed to be back a couple of weeks ago and wasn’t back. But that’s the plan right now.”

Styles has been absent from WWE television since the September 22 episode of SmackDown. On that fateful night, The Bloodline’s Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa orchestrated an attack on Styles backstage, culminating in Sikoa delivering a splash on Styles through a table. This dramatic incident led to Styles being stretchered out, setting the stage for a compelling storyline.

The attack by The Bloodline prevented Styles from teaming up with John Cena at Fastlane. In his absence, LA Knight stepped in to join forces with Cena, resulting in a victorious outcome against Uso & Sikoa.

Adding to the intrigue, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, integral parts of The OC with Styles, made their return at WWE’s recent house shows. This marked Gallows’ first in-ring action since August, following a period of recovery after a knee scope.

The upcoming SmackDown, set in Providence, Rhode Island, holds special significance as it is dedicated to the Tribute to the Troops. The announced lineup includes CM Punk’s return to SmackDown, a United States Championship number one contender’s tournament featuring Bobby Lashley vs. Karrion Kross and Dragon Lee vs. Santos Escobar, and a clash between Charlotte Flair and Asuka.
