Australia’s 13 Gymnasts Ready to Shine at the Paris 2024 Olympics

The Australian gymnastics team, comprised of 13 talented athletes, is set to compete across artistic, trampoline, and rhythmic events at the Paris 2024 Olympics starting July 27. This diverse team, featuring a record 11 women and two men, marks the largest gymnastics contingent Australia has ever sent to the Olympics.

Historic Representation in Paris

Australia’s gymnastics squad includes six athletes each in rhythmic and artistic gymnastics, and one athlete in trampoline. Notably, Tokyo Olympians Lidiia Iakovleva and Emily Whitehead will return to compete in rhythmic and artistic gymnastics, respectively. The remaining members of the squad are set to make their Olympic debuts, showcasing fresh talent on the world stage.

Young Talent and Veteran Presence

Among the standout competitors is Brock Batty, who will become the youngest male gymnast to represent Australia in trampoline at just 17 years and 211 days old. Jesse Moore, the only other male gymnast on the team, will compete in various artistic gymnastics events.

Unfortunately, Blake Rutherford, the top-ranked Australian in men’s trampoline qualifying, will miss the Games due to injury. Similarly, Commonwealth Games champion and two-time World Cup silver medallist Georgia Godwin is sidelined after sustaining an Achilles injury in May.

Schedule and Venues for Gymnastics Events

The gymnastics events at the Paris 2024 Olympics will be hosted at two iconic venues. Rhythmic gymnastics will take place from August 8 to 11 at Porte de La Chapelle Arena. Artistic gymnastics will be held from July 27 to August 5 at Bercy Arena, which will also host the trampoline gymnastics on August 3.

Aiming for Olympic Glory

Australia’s only Olympic medal in gymnastics was won by Ji Wallace, who secured a silver in the men’s trampoline at Sydney 2000. This year’s team is eager to add to that legacy and make their mark in Paris.
