CM Punk’s Potential Role on WWE TV During Injury Rehab

CM Punk’s recent triceps injury at the Royal Rumble has sidelined him from in-ring action for the foreseeable future, but reports suggest that he may still have a role to play in WWE during his rehabilitation period.

About CM Punk

According to “Fightful Select,” CM Punk was spotted backstage at last week’s “WWE SmackDown” and has also been seen at the Performance Center, assisting WWE’s talent.

Furthermore, “Fightful” released excerpts from an upcoming interview with CM Punk’s close friend and pro wrestling trainer, Ace Steel. Steel mentioned that WWE might want Punk to provide commentary while he’s away from active competition. However, Steel expressed reservations about this idea, citing Punk’s dissatisfaction with his previous on-screen departure following Drew McIntyre’s attack on “WWE Raw” after the Royal Rumble.

Steel emphasized that he wouldn’t want CM Punk to be on the same show as McIntyre during his recovery, considering the storyline between them. He highlighted the potential inconsistency if Punk were to attack McIntyre despite being injured and not cleared to wrestle.

Notably, CM Punk has served as a guest commentator in WWE and AEW on multiple occasions and has also lent his commentary skills to MMA promotion, Cage Fury Fighting Championships.

Punk’s injury, sustained during his first WWE match in a decade at the men’s Royal Rumble match, has disrupted WWE’s plans. Initially slated to face Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40, Punk’s injury, along with the controversy surrounding Brock Lesnar, led to a reshuffling of plans, culminating in The Rock’s return to WWE.
