CU Buffs’ Lineman Jack Wilty Enters Transfer Portal for Next Chapter
In a significant move for the Colorado Buffaloes’ football team, junior offensive lineman Jack Wilty has officially entered the transfer portal after completing one season with CU. Wilty, a graduate transfer with two seasons of eligibility left, made the announcement on Monday, marking a shift in his collegiate football journey.
Jack Wilty Background
Standing at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 310 pounds, Wilty joined the Colorado Buffaloes last offseason following two seasons at Iowa Central Community College. His impactful start at CU included a right guard position in the season opener against TCU, where he played all 86 offensive snaps. However, his playing time diminished over the course of the season, concluding with 146 snaps played, with a notable contribution of 52 snaps against UCLA.
Collegiate Journey
Wilty’s college football journey began at Northern Illinois in 2020, where he did not see any game action due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the season did not count towards eligibility. He later redshirted at Iowa Central Community College in 2021 before earning ICCAC All-Conference first team honors by playing eight games in 2022.

Transfer Portal Trend
Wilty is one of 10 scholarship players from CU entering the transfer portal since the conclusion of the season, with four of them being offensive linemen. This trend indicates a significant restructuring within the team as players explore new opportunities and challenges.
Buffaloes’ Roster Evolution
Despite the departures, the Buffaloes have been active in bolstering their roster, bringing in a total of 23 players. Among the additions are five offensive linemen with experience at the FBS level. Additionally, CU secured the commitment of Jordan Seaton, the top offensive line recruit from the prep ranks.
As Jack Wilty embarks on the next chapter of his football career, the Colorado Buffaloes are simultaneously reshaping their roster for the upcoming seasons. The evolving dynamics within the team hint at a strategic approach to strengthen various positions and maintain competitiveness in the challenging landscape of college football.
