In a significant move, Arizona Football’s Head Coach Brent Brennan has introduced Cullen Carroll as the new Director of Football Strength and Conditioning for the Wildcats.

Carroll, with an impressive background, arrives in Tucson after a successful tenure at San Jose State as the head coach of football athletic performance. During his time with the Spartans, Carroll focused on injury prevention, athletic performance enhancement, and mental discipline training, contributing to a remarkable six-game win streak and a share of the Mountain West Conference regular-season title in 2023. The Spartans capped off their season with an appearance in the 2023 Easy Post Hawai’i Bowl.

Stellar Career at Stanford

Before joining San Jose State, Carroll spent nine years at Stanford, serving in various roles, including Director of Football Sports Performance from 2019-2022. His tenure at Stanford witnessed significant achievements, with 13 athletes selected in various NFL Drafts since 2019, including four first-round selections. Carroll contributed to Stanford’s success in winning championships, including a Pac-12 Conference Championship in 2015 and a Rose Bowl Game Championship in 2016.

Multi-Faceted Expertise

Carroll’s coaching journey extends beyond football, having served as the Sports Performance Coach for Stanford’s men’s swimming and men’s gymnastics programs. Under his direction, the men’s swimming program secured back-to-back Pac-12 titles in 2016 and 2017.

Educational Background and Certifications

A California native, Carroll holds a master’s degree in Kinesiology from San José State University and a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Willamette University, where he excelled as an All-Northwest Conference linebacker. His coaching career began as a student assistant, taking on the role of head strength and conditioning coach for the Willamette football program.

Carroll’s certifications include SCCC through the CSCCa, CSCS through the NSCA, and CPR/AED/First Aid certification through the American Heart Association.
