Ohio Valley Wrestling’s recent hiring of the seasoned veteran Mickie James as Creative Director and Head of Female Talent has garnered praise from none other than WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff. After her return at the Nightmare Rumble event on January 6, James officially joined OVW, bringing a wealth of experience spanning 25 years to the creative department.

On a recent episode of “83 Weeks,” former WCW President Eric Bischoff shared his thoughts on Mickie James taking up a significant role within OVW. Bischoff acknowledged James’ extensive industry experience, having worked at high levels, including smaller companies like TNA. He emphasized her passion for the business and highlighted the opportunities her appointment brings to OVW.
“Mickie James been around the industry for a long time at very high levels, working in smaller companies like TNA, so she’s got a wide breadth of experience, and she brings a lot to the table,” Bischoff remarked. “Certainly, [she’s] got a lot of passion for the business.”
Bischoff delved into the potential impact of James’ role, especially considering OVW’s success with the ‘Wrestlers’ on Netflix. He discussed the importance of a balanced cast of characters for successful shows, emphasizing the need for a female perspective. Bischoff noted Mickie James’ telegenic presence, on-camera skills, and extensive talent, predicting that her involvement could enhance the demographic appeal of OVW’s projects, including potential collaborations with Netflix.

Titled H.E.R, the all-women’s wrestling showcase will unfold in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia, as part of Starrcast Downunder. This event follows James’ successful coordination of the Empowerr event under the NWA banner in 2021, showcasing her commitment to advancing women’s wrestling on a global scale.
