Former Kansas State CB Will Lee III’s Visit to Texas A&M
Texas A&M’s head coach, Mike Elko, recognizes the significance of utilizing the transfer portal to stay competitive in college football. With several players, including defensive starters, departing for the portal, the need to address positions promptly is evident. Following the entry of starting cornerback Tyreek Chappell into the transfer portal, the search for a replacement is underway, with former Kansas State cornerback Will Lee Jr. emerging as a top candidate.
Lee, who played for the Wildcats last season after transferring from Iowa Western (JUCO), had an impressive year, contributing 42 tackles, 32 solo tackles, six pass deflections, and two interceptions. Standing at 6’3″, Lee possesses the size and speed that could make him an immediate starter for the Aggies, especially considering the youth and limited depth in the cornerback room.

According to AggiesToday, Lee is scheduled to visit Texas A&M on Friday, Dec. 8, signaling mutual interest between the player and the coaching staff. Texas A&M, Louisville, and Washington are reportedly the final three schools in contention for Lee’s commitment.
The presence of new Texas A&M cornerback coach Ishmael Aristide, who previously worked under Elko, adds a layer of familiarity and successful player development to the pitch. Aristide has a track record that includes the development of Duke All-American cornerback Chandler Rivers, potentially making him a strong influence on Lee’s decision. Additionally, the ties of new Aggies offensive coordinator Collin Klein to Kansas State, where he has deep connections from his playing and coaching days, could also play a significant role in Lee’s visit.
As Texas A&M navigates the challenges presented by players entering the transfer portal, securing talented replacements, particularly in key positions like cornerback, becomes crucial for the team’s success in the upcoming season.
