High school football championships are commencing in Vermillion.
Thursday marks the initiation of the high school football championships, featuring three matches among the leading 9-man teams in the state. Zach Borg provided a preview of the day’s games while reporting from Vermillion.

In the 9B category, Avon secured a 32-30 victory over the Faulkton area in the morning game.
Moving to 9A, Warner emerged triumphant over Deubrook Area with a scoreline of 76-54. This victory stands as the highest-scoring 9-man championship game in SDHSAA history.
The evening will culminate with the 9AA showdown between Parkston and Howard at 7:00 p.m.
On Friday, the 11-man championship games will take center stage in the dome, and Saturday night will witness the 11AAA championship clash between O’Gorman and Lincoln.
