AEW commentator Jim Ross has offered heartfelt condolences following the passing of country music icon Toby Keith, who died at the age of 62 on February 5, 2024. With an illustrious career spanning 21 studio albums, including four chart-toppers on the Billboard 200, Keith was widely celebrated as one of the greatest musicians of his generation.

Expressing his sorrow on X (formerly Twitter), Jim Ross conveyed his deep sadness upon learning of Keith’s passing. “My heart is heavy today upon hearing that my friend Toby Keith has left us. I’m so sad. A true man’s man. Boomer Sooner Big T,” he wrote, paying tribute to their friendship and Keith’s legacy.

While wrestling fans will fondly recall Keith’s appearances on “WWE Raw” in 2009 and in TNA in 2002, where his musical performance was famously interrupted by Jeff Jarrett, his impact extended beyond the ring. Notably, Keith played a pivotal role in TNA’s early pay-per-view events, including his memorable participation in the Gauntlet for the Gold battle royal and his assistance to Scott Hall in defeating Jarrett in a one-on-one contest.

Keith’s battle with stomach cancer, diagnosed at the end of 2021 and publicly revealed in June 2022, highlighted his resilience in the face of adversity. Despite facing significant challenges, Keith remained steadfast until the end, passing away peacefully in his Oklahoma home.

Jim Ross, who has also confronted his own health struggles, including a battle with skin cancer in October 2021 and subsequent surgery on his right hip in 2024, empathizes deeply with Keith’s journey. The loss of a dear friend and fellow fighter resonates profoundly with Jim Ross, underscoring the importance of cherishing cherished memories and celebrating the enduring legacy of Toby Keith.
