While the official NCAA transfer portal opening is just around the corner, several members of the Kansas State football roster have wasted no time in announcing their intentions to explore new opportunities for the upcoming season. Following a challenging end to the regular season with a loss to Iowa State, nearly half a dozen K-State football players have declared their plans to transfer, setting the stage for potential changes before the Wildcats’ bowl game.
About Kansas State Football Players
Will Howard
The senior quarterback, Will Howard, stands out as a prominent name entering the transfer portal. Despite being a key figure, his departure was somewhat expected, especially with rising talent Avery Johnson ready to step into the quarterback role next season. Howard is currently evaluating his options, with notable schools like Auburn, Louisville, Washington, Missouri, and Kentucky expressing interest.
Jake Rubley
Highly-rated recruit Jake Rubley faced challenges within the Wildcats, leading to an inevitable transfer. Despite his potential, he struggled to ascend the depth chart, making his departure a logical move.
Adryan Lara
While coaches commended Lara’s skills, the crowded quarterback position left him with limited playing time prospects. His exit leaves K-State with Jacob Knuth and Johnson as the remaining quarterbacks for the upcoming bowl game.
Treshaun Ward
Ward’s departure came as a surprise given his significant role during the season, rushing for 643 yards and five touchdowns. However, he opted to seek opportunities elsewhere, given the formidable presence of lead running back DJ Giddens.
Sophomore wide receiver Shane Porter, with 21 games under his belt, primarily on special teams, is set to find a new team for the next chapter of his football career.

Will Lee
Adding to the list is redshirt sophomore cornerback Will Lee, who contributed 42 tackles and two interceptions in 11 games this season. Lee, a priority addition in the previous recruiting cycle, decided to explore new opportunities.
On Wednesday, cornerback Jordan Wright announced his entry into the transfer portal after playing in nine games this season. Wright made five tackles and defended two passes during his time with the Wildcats.
Freshman wide receiver Wesley Watson intends to transfer after one season with the Wildcats. The Texas recruit, a three-star player, aims for a new beginning after not recording any stats in his freshman year.
Junior tight end Ben Sinnott appears poised to forgo his final year of college football and turn professional. With an invitation to the Senior Bowl and a notable season performance, Sinnott seems ready to enter the NFL scene.
Like Sinnott, talented defensive end Khalid Duke, while yet to make a public declaration, has accepted an invitation to play in the East/West Shrine game, indicating his focus on turning professional.
As the NCAA transfer portal officially opens on December 4 and remains accessible until January 2, the Kansas State football team is witnessing significant changes. The Wildcats, facing a wave of departures and potential NFL transitions, are navigating the evolving landscape as they prepare for the upcoming bowl game and beyond.
