The Evolution of WWE Theme Songs
In recent years, the WWE has seen a dynamic shift in its theme song selections. While some classic tunes have stood the test of time, others have undergone modifications to adapt to changing tastes. One such iconic theme is Rev Theory’s “Voices,” famously associated with Randy Orton. However, Orton recently disclosed to Bleacher Report that his sentiments towards the song might not align with popular belief.
Randy Orton’s Mixed Feelings
Orton expressed his thoughts, stating, “Rev Theory’s great, my song’s great. A lot of people enjoy it. I have never loved, loved, loved it.” Contrary to his reserved admiration for “Voices,” Orton revealed his affinity for other WWE entrance themes, citing examples such as New Day’s and AJ Styles’. He elaborated, “There’s music that gets me going…the kind of music that pumps me up doesn’t really fit Randy Orton the character.”

Rumors Addressed: The Search for a New Theme
Addressing speculations surrounding a potential replacement for his theme song, Orton confirmed partial veracity to reports from Fightful Select. He disclosed, “There is some truth to what you read…we were actually working throughout the summer on a new song.” However, the collaborative efforts between Orton and WWE encountered hurdles during the creative process. Orton explained, “It kind of kept evolving…a higher-up in WWE brass would listen to it and say, ‘Eh, it sounds a little like Roman’s here, so take that out.’”
Survivor Series Dilemma
The situation reached a climax at Survivor Series when Orton contemplated debuting the new theme. Orton recounted, “The decision at the eleventh hour was ‘Voices’ is just a song people have learned to love.” Despite his personal reservations, Orton acknowledged the sentimental attachment fans have developed towards “Voices.” He emphasized, “…they know when they hear those first few notes…they know who’s coming down and they know how it makes them feel.”
Future Prospects
Looking ahead, Orton expressed openness to exploring new musical avenues before concluding his WWE tenure. He remarked, “I would love, before it’s all said and done, to have some music that gives me goosebumps.” While acknowledging the suitability of “Voices” to his persona, Orton hinted at his desire for a theme that resonates more deeply with his character.
