Hailing from Pennsylvania, Sharlandiin Strange, a highly touted four-star edge prospect and a top-300 national talent in the junior cycle, is poised to reveal his college decision on January 27. Earlier this month, the 6-foot-4, 245-pound Strange unveiled his final five contenders, which include the Orange, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, and Southern California.
As of my writing on Friday night, there are at least three predictions favoring Syracuse for Strange on Rivals.com. On3’s recruiting prediction machine, meanwhile, currently places Rutgers in the lead, followed closely by Penn State.
A standout athlete at Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, Pennsylvania, Strange received a scholarship offer from Syracuse in January 2023.
According to his profile on Rivals.com, Strange has garnered over 20 offers from various schools including Boston College, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, Rutgers, South Carolina, Texas A&M, USC, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Akron, James Madison, Buffalo, Charlotte, UConn, Long Island, Pittsburgh, and Toledo.
Multiple recruiting websites, focusing on the 2025 cycle, rank Strange as a top-300 overall player, a top-30 edge prospect, and a top-10 talent in Pennsylvania within his class.

If Strange opts for Syracuse on Saturday, it would mark a significant victory for the team in securing its first verbal commitment for the 2025 cycle. He recently visited the SU campus during one of the Orange’s junior days, where he also had the opportunity to witness an exhilarating Syracuse basketball game.
While Syracuse football coaches are finalizing their 2024 class, having secured commitments from at least 20 high school seniors and 12 college transfers, their focus is gradually shifting towards the 2025 recruitment efforts. The coaching staff has been actively extending scholarship offers to highly ranked high school juniors, with Strange among the targeted prospects in this cycle.
With anticipation building, Syracuse football enthusiasts remain hopeful and optimistic that Strange will choose the Orange when he announces his commitment on Saturday.
