The Unspoken Original Plan
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Gowen revealed the scrapped original plan that would have taken the brutality to unimaginable heights. The initial idea was for Lesnar to execute his signature move, the F5, by throwing Gowen off the iconic SmackDown fist suspended high above the entrance ramp. The colossal structure was intended to serve as the stage for this bone-chilling stunt.
Gowen explained, “The original idea was for Brock Lesnar to F5 me off of the SmackDown fist through the stage. That was the plan for like two or three weeks, but we had to pivot.”
The shift to the wheelchair stunt down the stairs occurred because creative struggled to devise a plausible scenario for Lesnar and Gowen to be on top of the fist. The logistics of reaching the elevated stage became a stumbling block, prompting the alteration in plans.
