Trumpmania: Hulk Hogan Electrifies Republicans at RNC with Shirt-Ripping Performance

The iconic former professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, known for his theatrical flair and larger-than-life persona, made a dramatic appearance at the Republican National Convention on Thursday night, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

A Hulk HoganTheatrical Entrance

Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, is scheduled to speak on the final night of the convention, just before former President Donald Trump’s address. Hogan, famous for his deep tan and flamboyant lifestyle, walked onstage to a montage of videos and photos showcasing his patriotic spirit. Donning his signature red bandana and sunglasses, Hogan hyped the crowd with his gestures, signaling that he couldn’t hear their chants of “USA.”

An Electrifying Speech

Taking the podium, Hogan reminisced about his wrestling days, saying, “The vibe was so intense, the energy was so crazy, it felt like maybe I was gonna press that no-good stinky giant over my head and slam him into the mat, brother.” His energetic delivery and larger-than-life presence brought a surge of excitement to the convention hall.

A Controversial Figure

Listed in the official RNC program as a “professional entertainer and wrestler,” Hulk Hogan has had his share of controversies. His lawsuit against Gawker Media, which resulted in a $140 million jury award after the company published a sex tape featuring Bollea, was a landmark case in the media world. The fallout from the sex tape led to World Wrestling Entertainment terminating his contract due to reported racist language in the video. Despite these controversies, Hogan’s presence at the RNC highlights the influence of billionaire Peter Thiel, who funded Hogan’s legal battle against Gawker and supports Trump’s vice presidential pick, Sen. J.D. Vance.

Supporting Speakers

Hogan’s remarks were framed by two speakers identified by the RNC program as “everyday Americans.” Carrie Ruiz, the general manager of golf at Trump National Doral in Miami, and Annette Albright of North Carolina, who recently ran for an at-large seat on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education, also spoke. Albright, noted for being labeled a “Trojan horse Republican” in her nonpartisan election, shared her experience and support for Trump’s policies.

Hulk Hogan’s performance at the RNC underscores the blend of entertainment and politics that has become a hallmark of Trump-era Republican events. His speech, filled with energy and theatrics, added a unique flair to the convention’s final night, setting the stage for Trump’s highly anticipated address.
